The trip includes a walk around Roman quarry in a town called Las Canteras, cape Cabo Tinoso, and famous army fortifications from the beginning of 20th century like Bateria de los Castillitos, as well as a visit to a fishing village Las Azohia.
Las Canteras, where the quarry is located, is a small town 4 km away from a famous city Cartagena. The quarry served the purpose of digging stone to build the huge Cartagena, which has a famous harbor and a few very famous historical treasures.
You’ll also go to the cape Cabo Tinoso, which is a very popular place in the region of Murcia, where Batería de los Castillitos (also known as C-1) is located. It’s located on the peak of it (approximately 250 meters above sea level), where a narrow, winding road leads. Adrenaline rises and the views are breathtaking. It’s really worth it, since at the top you’ll see fortifications with powerful cannons, which were supposed to prevent people from reaching the harbor of Cartagena.
The trip ends with a choice of either visiting a fishing village Las Azohia, where you can climb a Santa Elena tower, or going for a relaxed walk around beautiful narrow streets of Cartagena with a lot of bars and restaurants, where you can sit for a bit and look at buildings hundreds of years old.
